HOW
DO I....
OBTAIN
A REPEAT PRESCRIPTION?
Requests for repeat prescriptions should be made in writing, by fax (on 01494 785917), by e-mail (on: newsurgery.prescriptions@nhs.net) or by calling at the surgery. This email address should not be used for any other enquires. Please set up receipt report in own software to confirm delivery. We are no longer able to take prescription requests over the telephone in order to avoid mistakes occurring. Repeat prescriptions will normally be ready in 48 hours for collection from the surgery (script only) or a local pharmacy (prescribed medication).
If you require acute medication this will have to be authorised by your GP first and may result in some delay. GPs only can make the decision on whether a prescription can be issued. Reception staff provide a prescription service under the direction of the GPs & any queries that arise have to be taken to the relevant GP before a prescription can be issued. This is for quality & safety reasons and unfortunately may sometimes result in a delay to the issue of your prescription.
When faxing and emailing, remember to name the drugs you require, the Chesham chemist you wish to collect from, and give us a contact telephone number. (Please remember that these methods are not always secure, and if you are worried about confidentiality, please use one of the other methods as stated.)
